The mission of Community Initiatives Foundation is to address the unmet needs of the Baton Rouge community.

The founding initiative addresses the needs of the children of Katrina.

Community Initiatives Foundation will partner with strong organizations to develop sustainable responses to specific needs.

Community Initiatives Foundation is a 501c3 organization. Contributions are tax deductible.

Neighbors Keeper Foundation



Capital Area Alliance for the Homeless 

As partners, CIF and CAAH developed Neighbors Keepers to initially address the needs of the near-homeless Katrina evacuees with emphasis on care for the children. As Neighbors Keepers continues this initial mission, work is being done to become a neighborhood center of care with focus on providing expressive therapies for children.

Louisiana State University College of Psychology – educational assessments and groups

St. Vincent De Paul – medical services and prescription medications

Excelth, a medical and psychiatric clinic operated in the trailer villages and continues service to assist this population

Early Childhood and Support Services – providing comprehensive care for children, ages 0-5, in some of our families

Boys Hope/Girls Hope – residential program for children desiring to attend college and would benefit from early opportunities to reach that goal

Connections, a residential/work development program for women who have recently been incarcerated

Mind Body Center of LA provides training and consultation

Center for Mind Body Medicine provides training and leadership

Families Helping Families, a local entity, serves as advocates and mentors
